I've always said "Golf is not a sport"...

Since this has sort of been our summer of new and different things, Chris agreed to take up tennis (something he vowed he'd never do since the one time we played when we were dating--and I beat him) and I agreed to take golf classes with him (something I vowed I'd never do since forever). Now I have always made fun of golf as a sport, simply because it doesn't seem that one has to be athletic at all to be good at it...boy was I wrong. Golf is hard! I thought having a bit of hand-eye coordination from growing up playing tennis would help...it didn't. All of the other people in the lesson would be thrilled when their balls got near their target or when they hit a particularly awesome shot (these were all beginners, mind you). I simply was thrilled to make contact with the ball at all. And I gave the grass a severe hammering in the process. I was making more divots fly than golf balls. The pro giving us the lessons sort of gave up giving me one-on-one direction when he realized how hopeless it was.

All this being said, I'm sorry I ever made fun of golf.

Cute picture. I liked your funny story - - I think you're great for attempting it! I've played golf once before...I would be equally matched up with you I think! ha ha

Joan will go golfing with me, but only occasionally. We both have very different ideas of what is good.

Very fun. The equivalent in my marriage would be me going line dancing, I guess. Seeing as have I still haven't gone, you're one up on me.

I understand people liking to play golf, but I still maintain that it's about as athletic as fooseball: sure, it takes a certain set of honed arm movements, but it still ain't athletic. But hey, at least it's outside.
