Reunited

Last weekend I reunited with my big sister from Delta Gamma that I haven't seen in nearly 8 years. She was sweet enough to treat me to a delicious lunch at Cafe Trio. We felt like we were in a time warp circa 1999. It was a blast to catch up and so fun to now be back in touch! Thanks Brittany!

Happy Fall!

I have been so sad about the end of summer that I forgot how much I love fall.

A few things I love:

*The crisp feeling in the air
*The smell
*The changing leaves
*Going on drives to see the leaves
*Wearing sweaters and jackets
*Drinking hot cider
*Halloween candy hitting the shelves
*Eating lots of soup
*Knowing that the holidays are on their way!

Baby Johnson on the Way!!

We are very excited to be expecting a little one in March!! The baby is due March 21st and we are thrilled!!

We had our first ultrasound this week, and although the baby is only the size of a kumquat (that’s what they tell me in the books…what in the world is a kumquat?) it was amazing to see a little being moving around in there and to see the strong heartbeat.

I am also excited to have escaped the wrath of my sister, who has been harassing us since we got married to “produce a cousin...or else…”

Home Sweet Home!

Well, our short three months in Michigan have come to an end and we are thrilled to be back in SLC! The first thing Chris wanted to do (besides see family and friends) was mountain bike, so he has been on three rides already...

and the first thing I wanted to do was eat at my much missed Cafe Rio, which I took care of yesterday...and will probably take care of again later this week...

We missed our friends and family so much and we can't wait to catch up!!

A Puppy Sleepover

This cute little guy is Grady, Ruby's puppy friend from across the hall. These guys like to play out on the grass together and Grady's owner mentioned that he feels so bad because he works all day and this poor little guy is home by himself, with no potty breaks for 8+ hours. Why have a puppy? Since I am home all day I offered to take Grady on our morning walks and to come get him when we go out to play ball. When I went over to get him I found him in this filthy, small room with no food or water. From now on Grady is spending his days at our place. And maybe some of his nights too. His owner went out of town last night and we ended up having Grady sleep over. Chris and I felt like we were hosting a sleepover for young children, with the breaking up of midnight wrestling,and such. I gave Grady some of Ruby's food and he chowed down twice as much as Ruby usually eats in about 30 seconds. I'm growing attached to this little puppy and wish we could adopt him and give him the kind of life he deserves.

Chicago

We spent last weekend with my cousin Kat and her husband Mark in Chicago and Nauvoo. It was so much fun!

Downtown Chicago was awesome! We met up with Mark and Kat and they watched Ruby for us while we went into the Chicago Museum of Art, which is free on Thursdays and Fridays during the summer! How cool is that? Then we walked around and Chris pointed out all the buildings featured in Batman: The Dark Knight.

A crazy bicycle brigade came charging down the street, stopping all traffic. It was nuts!

We got to see Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio. Chris is fascinated by all things Frank Lloyd Wright.

Nauvoo

Us in front of the beautiful Nauvoo temple. It seemed sort of funny to take pictures in front of the temple with our dog--but all dogs go to heaven, right?

Walking around outside the pageant...I was a little nervous that someone was going to tell us we couldn't bring Ruby, but alas...all were welcome. Lots of people wanted to come pet her. Look at the smile on that dog's face!

Chris, me, Kat at the pageant. The Nauvoo Pageant was awesome! The stage is set so that you can see the temple in the background. As the pageant was ending, it had gotten completely dark and then while the cast was singing some beautiful hymn I can't remember the temple lights up on cue...aah it was cool.

Some flooded out little town in Iowa that we drove through to get to Nauvoo. It was very sad to see abandoned houses, wrecked beyond repair.
